Crashes often, no way to choose where to save video

I’ve been using this for a few months with 7 different cameras. The one time I really needed to review a video I discovered that it had crashed a day earlier without warning, popup or anything. If you leave the program running be sure to check daily because it won’t last more than a day or two without crashing. Also, there’s no way to choose where videos can be saved, which is a pretty big issue.

Works Great

After trying other solutions I found this app does exactly what it is supposed to do. I have dozens of security cameras (various models of indoor and outdoor, with varying features such as pan/zoom and/or two-way audio). Several cameras are at remote locations. This app interacts with all of them nicely. Take your time setting up your cameras. Follow the camera instructions for updating firmware and setting new secure passwords. Follow your internet router instructions for port forwarding or UPnP if you need access from outside your LAN. Using a dynamic DNS service can be helpful. Make sure your Mac firewall and other settings permit this app to work properly. As with most reasonably powerful apps, there are non-trivial settings. I find that taking enough time to read and follow directions helps. By the way, I read one review that seems to suggest that positive reviews of this app are being written by people associated with the app publisher. I my case, at least, I have no assocation with the publisher of this app other than being another happy customer.

Support is not very good

I have been back and forth with support emails for several weeks trying to resolve an issue with my Foscam FI9831P V2. I have been unable to view the video from this camera. I can view it using ip camera tool as well as logging on via URL and ip address. I can also view the video using two different apps on my iphone and iPad. So, I know the video can be viewed. They only have two selections for in their app that might be appropriate for this camera (FI9831W and FI9831Ws). However, neither of these camera selections will work. I keep getting “message error (127)”. Support has had me totally erase the app from my Mac and then reinstall it from scratch. No help. They then keep saying they don’t understand why it won’t work. I sent them a guest “admin” login so they could go into my camera and see what might be the problem. Unfortunately, I never heard back from them and the app is still not working so I deleted the guest login. Seems to me they could run test with the FI8931P V2 and make sure it works with their app and then add that camera setup to their app selection. Needless to say, I won’t be purchasing their Iphone or ipad app until they get their act together. Wish I could get my purchase price back on the Mac app.

Fantastic Camera

We’ve had this camera for many years and it has been awesome in helping us monitor and communicate through the camera. Once it’s working, it’s awesome, love it. Getting it set up is complex and we hired Geek Squad to come set it up for us so we wouldn’t be stressed about it. It took them about 45 min to set it up and they know what they are doing. If we did it, it would have taken us 2-3 hours I’m sure and stressed out. They now have some tutorials on their website that are awesome and their customer support team are fantastic to work with. THey will walk you through what you need to do. If their support wasn’t there I would give this a worse rating. I would have given it a 5 star if the set up was super easy. The picture is clear, you can zoom in and out, we love it and can’t imagine not having it. Just remember to set your own password and don’t tell anyone including Geek Squad. They set it up and showed us how to change the password and we didn’t tell anyone. Make it hard and complex because you don’t want hackers in.

First things I tried did not work, waiting for support...

Tried to Import my 4 cams from uNetCams after export to a .cid file. Nothing happens after opening file in uFoscam import. Tried to manually setup a Vilar cam that was working fine in uNetCams - nothing, black screen with error message (127) Will return here after I get (or not) support.

Rename it CrashCam

Crashes about once every 24 hours using supported cameras and equipment. No support, so basically its a donation to another scam Chinese company.

A great app

I cam from windows to all apple, and i downloaded this on my iMac. I have 10 foscams here and i used to use windows foscam viewer, I downloaed this and set 10 cameras up in just under 10 mins. All the Mjpeg cameras work great with full control and also my one HD foscam works. This is a great app for the foscam cameras. i recommend it
